Just time for a quick update...
I went here looking for him (but he was in an airplane up in the sky) and him and him and bumped into her and met her for the first time after seven years.
so that's a little manifestation of the wonders of "Web 2.0" at a Web 2.0 conference on marketing, new media and politics.
which had a lot of politics and some media and a little marketing.
but that's an observation, not a complaint, as I told Laynie; the forum was fun.
just skimming the surface, am I? speedblogging.
speaking of which, I'm on Twitter. follow me and I'll follow you.

DDB University 2007: sweepin' the awards
"Rapp Collins dominated the awards sheet" at last year's DDB University here in KL...

(for posterity. and to gloat. a little.)
Old Englishmen knew how to insult
... zealous but unpopular, self-accredited expert on clocks, locks, bells, buildings, as well as many branches of law, Denison was one of those people who are almost impossible as colleagues, being perfectly convinced that they know more than anybody about everything--as unhappily they often do. --unnamed writer describing Edmund Beckett Denison, designer of Big Ben's mechanismNowadays we'd say, "that smart alec's one big ass." those old Englishmen sure had a way with words.
It's been a year since you've been gone
Today's the day. the 12th of April. it's one year since mother died.
yes, she died. some may say she "passed away," but I was there when it happened and I can tell you, she died.
it's sad. there's nothing happy about it for those of us left behind, except to see the end of her sorrows. it's a new road for her now.
so I guess it's selfish for us to moan, because there's no cause for sorrow from her point of view. the selfless thing would be to rejoice as she would rejoice, and carry on.
we'll meet again, Mi.
my gut is a cauldron of emotions cooking up a thick stew of bittersweet thoughts and feelings.
is something brewing in your kitchen too?

Make room for that which takes no room
canyouimaginewhatitwouldbeliketoreadawholenovelwithoutspaces?
spaces are everywhere and yet we never really notice them until they go missing, do we?
sometime ago, Sting said that he was starting to think that music really consists of the silence between the notes.
selah.
if a tree falls in the forest and no one's there to clap with one hand, can you see the monk jump over the wall?
what am I saying, really?
pay attention to typography!
no, not really.
what I'm saying is, give room to the nothingness in your life. you might think you'd rather do without the obscure days, the unfulfilled wishes, the forgettable moments.

Dr M calls for--ahem--reformation
"UMNO risks becoming no longer relevant because there are now more 'yes men' than those who are willing to give dissenting views," said Mahathir, 82, who was himself intolerant of dissent during his 22 years in power until retiring in late 2003.
"We must look at ourselves and be brave and take action to correct UMNO."
